Dementia and challenging behaviour

People suffering from dementia and challenging behaviour may experience frustration, fear or stress; feel lonely or suffering from pain and discomfort; misunderstand what is happening; feel ignored, overlooked and not in control of their life; or feel disorientated.

This individual need carers who understand their situation, who will not blame them for what they are expressing. We work with care homes with such individuals, supporting the services to be more comfortable and get through the challenging times when dementia and challenging behaviour symptoms arise.

Learning disabilities or learning difficulties

Services users with a learning disability find it harder to learn certain life skills. They experience problems that vary from person to person but may consist of characteristics such as learning new things, communication, reading, writing, managing finances, or personal care.  Some individuals are born with a disability, however, others may develop one as a consequence of an accident or illness in childhood.

Mental health care EMI

We work with Nursing Homes that specialise in providing nursing care for service users that suffer from sickness, injury or infirmity – the nature of care that requires the skills of a qualified nurse.

Specialist homes for older people with some characteristic of mental frailty are often called ‘EMI’ homes. ‘EMI’ generally stands for ‘elderly mentally infirm’ or ‘elderly mentally ill’.

End of life care

End of life patients are people not at the end stage of their life which be year or even considerably shorter. During this period the service user may require special attention to ensure when they pass on they are comfortable as possible. At KC24 healthcare we understand this can be a difficult time for families and we are here to lend a helping hand. Our carers are professionally training to support service user who are now at the stage of End of life.
